Meet the Doula.
Hi, I’m Sarah.
My Story
My journey has had its waves of trials and waves of triumphs, and I’ve always wondered what path would best fit the gifts God has placed in me. I began my journey as an elementary school teacher and gained such valuable experience being in the classroom. However, my heart felt called to caring for others in another capacity. With a love for babies and nourishment, I sought after becoming a postpartum doula. I am currently training to become a certified postpartum doula and lactation specialist through A Woman Who Serves. I find myself at a place where this work feels like home. Having a natural instinct to nuture alongside the joy of preparing homemade meals led me to this space of helping new mothers experience tender love and care.
For many years, I neglected caring for the body God had given me and slowly developed unhealthy eating habits, ultimately leading to an eating disorder. It was through these hard times that I realized that real food was meant to be enjoyed, it is medicine to our bodies. I also learned that this body God had given me does not need to be fixed by sinking smaller. In fact, I blossomed when I finally learned to trust God, my body and to treat myself compassionately. Through inviting myself to enjoy nourishing foods along with having compassion for myself I soon discovered that these life changes brought LIFE to my body and gave me the energy I needed to live and allow my body to function at its best. We were never meant to work against our bodies, but with them. Since that season of my life I have developed such a deep desire to serve other women and help them care for themselves holistically. When I came across becoming a postpartum doula I loved the idea of being someone who could hold a mother’s heart and hand. Asking for help and letting myself be held, supported, seen, loved, and understood in that time of healing was one of the bravest things I could ever do. Out of the overflow of my heart, that is my wish for mother’s to know as well.
So mama, I want to encourage you to soften and surrender in this season of your life as you create space to care for your precious child. You just did the supernatural in bringing your baby into this world and now it is time to embrace the need for rest and soundness for your heart and mind so you can give yourself fully for your child. My hope is to walk hand in hand with you and your family to ensure you are well- supported and confident in your unique mothering journey. My hope is that you can be kind to all parts of you in the 4th trimester, most importantly embracing your soft, new body and the security, warmth, and nourishment it provides for your little one!
You deserve to have a blissful and delicate postpartum period where you feel honored, seen, safe, nurtured, and fed.
Testimonials
As a new mom, finding the time to care for myself felt impossible. Sarah not only provided the support I needed but went above and beyond with thoughtful touches like these homemade banana chocolate chip muffins. They were delicious, filling, and made me feel so nurtured. I could feel the love and care in every bite, and they quickly became my go-to snack when I needed a quick boost. I truly felt seen and cared for during a time when it mattered most.
